Birthlink’s After Adoption Information Line is an easily accessible point of contact for all those seeking information and advice relating to adoption issues that affect adults.

Birthlink operate the Contact Register which invites adopted people and birth relatives to register their details in the hope that there will be a link allowing future contact.

Birthlink offer DNA testing and emotional support to adopted individuals who are unable to trace birth family members using traditional genealogy record searching.

Redress

Birthlink’s Redress team are key partners in the Scottish Government’s redress scheme for those who have been abused in care. Birthlink Redress Support Workers deliver a critical role in accessing records as part of the service provided to survivors.

There are many types of records. We can help in sorting out which ones are which, locating their whereabouts, accessing them on your behalf and help you make sense of them.

We have a group of experienced and trained volunteers who will conduct a search on your behalf. Any resulting information is coordinated by a member of the Birthlink staff.

Many people feel very vulnerable when contemplating an approach to the person sought. The use of a third party as a go-between gives everyone a better chance of a successful contact.
