Counselling Service
We are not currently accepting referrals. We understand this may be disappointing, and we want to reassure you that this is a temporary pause. This page will be updated as soon as referrals reopen so you can stay informed about when support becomes available again.
If you would like to be considered for counselling, please click here to download the referral form. You will have an initial screening conversation to determine if we can support you further.
Counselling is delivered in blocks of 12 sessions, reviewed after every block. We are based in Edinburgh and can offer face-to-face sessions at our offices in Castle Street, although we can also arrange online counselling if this is preferred.
The service is delivered by trainee counsellors supported by the required levels of clinical oversight in line with COSCA guidance. Our trainee counsellors are either registered with COSCA or the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. They adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice and a copy of this is available on request. Counsellors are in their final stages of training and have experience of counselling in related fields. Your counsellor will have undertaken a robust induction to the work of the agency and their ongoing development is overseen by their supervisor, the Birthlink Counselling Co-ordinator and the Interim Chief Executive Officer.
