All Saints Mission House
In 1874, work began on a building in Glen Street, designed by Sir Robert Rowland Anderson (whose other works included the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Glasgow Central Station, and Edinburgh University’s McEwan Hall), and commissioned by All Saint’s Church in Tollcross1. In 1875, four Sisters from The Society of All Saint’s, who had been sent from London five years prior, moved in and opened a Mission house2.
The Sisters of the Community of St Peter the Apostle at Westminster were an organisation aimed at the ‘moral restoration of fallen women’, and took over the running of All Saints Mission House in 19323. This organisation ceased to exist in 19924.
